The Tenant Services program serves tenants at ELACC’s Affordable Housing properties throughout Boyle Heights, El Sereno, and unincorporated East Los Angeles. Tenant services and programming connect our low-income tenants, comprised mainly of families living at eight of our affordable housing sites, to services where they live, eat, and play, increasing resident access to opportunities that enhance their quality of life. Our staff and volunteers reach over 2,000 residents through case management, wellness and educational workshops, afterschool tutoring, physical exercise and play, and our monthly Mobile Food Pantry program. Tenant Services links residents to resources that help them succeed in life and foster a secure support network among their neighbors. Our after-school youth program, ELACC S.T.A.R.S (Sustainable Tutoring and Academic Resources for Students), provides tutoring and homework assistance to K-12 students throughout the year by recruiting volunteers from local high schools, universities, and organizations. Our adult programs and workshops give tenants information and build capacity in the areas of health, nutrition, financial education, communication skills, and job search skills. Through periodic assessment of the tenant’s needs, the Tenant Services team develops their curriculum to better meet the priorities of the tenants at each of the properties.
MOBILE FOOD PANTRY
Our monthly food distribution program, in collaboration with the LA Regional Food Bank, provides 25 lbs. of fresh food for up to 250 people from the community at large. By working together, the Tenant Services Department ensures ELACC tenants and community families are thriving and taking steps to maintain a healthy and sustainable home. Since the inception of the program, we have served over 5,000 Eastside families.
