In 1995, an urban planner, attorney, community organizer and real estate developer, all from Los Angeles’ Eastside, decided to join forces to create a Community Development organization dedicated to serving their densely populated, low-income, urban neighborhood. What began as an ambitious dream shared by a group of activists united by their passion and vision, soon became the East LA Community Corporation (ELACC).
ELACC is a non-profit community development corporation based in Boyle Heights. For over 22 years, ELACC has leveraged over $250 million in housing and other community development resources. Our mission is to advocate for economic and social justice in Boyle Heights and East Los Angeles by building grassroots leadership, developing affordable housing and neighborhood assets, and providing access to economic development opportunities for low and moderate-income families. We envision a community where everyone lives with opportunity, dignity, and autonomy.
Thank you to the founders of ELACC for having the dream and for providing a strong foundation and the opportunity for me to continue.
